Human Rights Violations in the South

On July 12, 2018, Amnesty International reported about the disappearances and torture in southern Yemen, executed by southern security forces under the command of the United Arab Emirates.

The Southern Transitional Council condemns any form of violence, human rights abuses, and undemocratic practices. In the past months, the STC helped improving the human rights situation in South Yemen. In this context, the STC has provided trainings and courses on human rights and ethics for security officers of the UAE-backed forces in South Yemen. In addition, it is important to remember that the STC is a political representation of the people of South Yemen and has no executive power.

The STC values the International Declaration of Human Rights and will do all within its power to enhance human rights in South Yemen.
