Press Statement

[Saturday, 26 September 2020] The Southern Transitional Council’s General Administration of Foreign Affairs affirms that all consultations related to the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement are conducted through high and responsible channels under the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

While the administration commends the efforts made by the brothers in the Arab Coalition, it affirms at the same time that the delegation of the Southern Transitional Council in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, has handed over all necessary plans to implement the mechanism to accelerate the Riyadh Agreement which was announced on 29 July 2020, including plans to separate and transfer of forces from Abyan to the frontlines as well as the repositioning of military forces outside the capital, Aden.

The General Administration of Foreign Affairs also expresses its deep regret for the irresponsible statements that are frequently made by some members of the caretaker government, bypassing their stipulated duties, their ongoing attempts to shuffle the cards in order to thwart the efforts of the Arab Coalition and thwart the efforts aimed at uniting the political and military files against Al-Houthi militias and terrorist groups.

The Southern Transitional Council calls on the designated Prime Minister to fulfill the agreed obligations to support the Aden governor in order to facilitate his tasks to alleviate the suffering of the citizens, especially with regard to the provision of public services. The Council also indicates that obstructing the formation of the new government which is part of the mechanism announced in the Accelerated Riyadh Agreement lives up to a policy that collectively punish the Southern governorates.

In view of this, the Southern Transitional Council calls on the countries of the Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the sponsor of the Riyadh Agreement, to take a firm stance towards the parties obstructing the implementation of the agreement.
